Nate & Kari, Bryce and Addie
Pastor Nate Burns became the Lead Pastor at Mustang Church of the Nazarene In February 2020.
Previously he served Leesburg Church of the Nazarene from 2016 to 2020 as the Lead Pastor and Owasso Silver Creek Church of the Nazarene from 2008 to 2016 as the Lead Pastor.
His various experience in ministry has included Student Ministry, Worship Ministry, he has served in Full Time Ministry since 1999.
He has been married to Kari (Roland) Burns since July 8, 2000. She is the love of his life, and he could not be the Pastor he is without her. They met while attending Southern Nazarene University.
Kari is a gifted teacher and hopes to fulfill her calling in Mustang Public Schools. She Is the glue that holds our family together.
They have two beautiful children Bryce (14) and Addie (10). They all three are his highest calling and he is blessed to be called Husband and Daddy. Their family loves the Lord and His church, and they hope to serve your family.
Scott & Kym; Amy, Andrew, and Kayla
Associate Pastor / Children
Kym began ministry to children and families in 2001. She and her husband Scott accepted the call to serve here at Mustang Church of the Nazarene in December 2004.
Both are graduates of Southern Nazarene University. Scott also has his doctorate from the University of Oklahoma and serves on faculty at Southern Nazarene University.
Kym and Scott have three children – Amy, Andrew, and Kayla, who keep their parents busy with soccer, basketball, and music.
In her free time, Kym enjoys reading (with a cup of coffee), scrapbooking, and trying new experiences/places.
BJ & Deanna
Associate Pastor / Creative Discipleship
BJ began serving as Youth Pastor in March of 2017 after beginning his call to full time ministry in 2009 and has transitioned to being our Creative Discipleship Pastor in October of 2021.
Prior to joining our staff he graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2009 and has served in several areas of church and parachurch ministries including a Youth Pastor and Young Adult Leader on the Hawaii Pacific District of the Church of the Nazarene, Family Pastor in the United Methodist Church, and Director of Residential Life and Chaplain at Shelterwood Academy in Independence, Missouri. BJ’s also been leading worship throughout his whole Youth Ministry journey, and is excited to help people connect to the heart of God through music, art, and other forms of creative expression!
His wife, Deanna, is on staff at Southern Nazarene University in the Admissions Office and is also completing a Masters Degree in Transformational Leadership and Spiritual Formation at Nazarene Theological Seminary. She has also served as a Director in various ministries such as Team Effort Camp Ministries, Jubilee Partners, and Shelterwood Academy.
Deanna and BJ are passionate about helping people learn how to develop the skills necessary to navigate the challenges of life through intentional mentorship and discipleship.
In their spare time, they enjoy going on random adventures such as going to concerts and sporting events, being outdoors, and trying as many different kinds of cultural foods as they can!
Associate Pastor / Youth Discipleship
Noah began serving as Youth Discipleship Pastor in October 2021.
He will graduate from Southern Nazarene University in December. During his time at SNU he served three summers on their traveling rec team: SNU Crew. In addition, he also served as the Worship and Teaching Intern at Midwest City Community Church of the Nazarene.
In his spare time, Noah enjoys discussing movie facts, watching movies, drinking quality coffee (and lots of it), listening to music, and spending quality time laughing with the people that he loves.
Nathan & Abby and Luke
Associate Pastor / Director of IT
Nathan joined the staff as Worship Pastor in 2008. He came to us straight out of Southern Nazarene University where he obtained his B.S. in Music with Ministry Emphasis.
He has been married to Abby since 2008 and she is a 5th grade teacher at Canyon Ridge Intermediate. They had their first child, Luke, in 2017.
Nathan’s call to ministry came during his high school years as he became involved in the music ministry of his home church in Hutchinson, Kansas. Nathan also is an experienced mechanic, an accomplished pianist, and a freelance audio engineer. He was full-time worship pastor at our church until 2018. In 2018 he transitioned to part-time Director of IT at the church when he took a full-time position of Director of Audio Visual at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
Brett & Ashly; Aiden, Aaron, and Axton
Associate Pastor / Community Missionary
Brett joined the team in June of 2008. His role changed from Youth Pastor to Community Missionary in January 2017. With support from the local church and the SWOK District, Brett has opened Crossfit RWOL (Restoring Wholeness of Life) as an organic church plant in Mustang.
He and his wife, Ashly, come to us from Guymon, OK, where he served as the Youth Pastor since January 2007. Both are graduates of Southern Nazarene University and Ashly also has an Associates Degree from Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City. She is a Registered Nurse and is employed by Mustang Public Schools as a school nurse.
Brett began to investigate a call to ministry in college while serving in Long Beach, CA, with Youth In Mission through the Church of the Nazarene.
Brett and Ashly love working with teens, watching sports and other activities with young people and friends. Brett’s favorites include playing sports, working out, eating with friends, and mostly, spending time with their three children – Aiden, Aaron, and Axton.
Associate Pastor / Encouragement
Paul Stroud became a part of our staff in August 2011. Paul brings a wealth of wisdom and experience to our team. His most recent experiences include interim pastor at the Waurika, OK, Church of the Nazarene and prior to that they served as the Camp Directors at the Southwest Oklahoma campground, Salyer Lake Retreat and Conference Center. They have served the Church of the Nazarene around the world as pastor and missionary.
Steve & Diane
Associate Pastor / Discipleship
Steve and Diane Ruby became a part of our staff in April 2013. Steve is serving as our Associate Pastor/Discipleship. He is assisting us in the areas of preaching and teaching.
Steve came to us from the Ashland First Church of the Nazarene, in Ashland, Kentucky, where he was the Senior Pastor from 2004. He has also been the pastor in churches in Oklahoma and Texas. He is a Graduate of Mid-America Nazarene University, Nazarene Theological Seminary and has a Doctorate of Ministry from Bakke Graduate University of Ministry.
Steve and Diane have 3 children: Steven and his wife, Sherry; Aaron and his wife, Deborah; and Courtney; plus 5 grandchildren, Brianna, Bradley, Trinity, Jackson, & Kinsley.
Mike & Sharon
Associate Pastor / Care Ministries
Mike and Sharon Burns became a part of our staff in August 2020. Mike is serving as our Associate Pastor of Care Ministries.
Dr. Michael Burns was born in Elkhart, IN. He served in the United States Navy for 8 years. His last assignment was working for the US Ambassador to Canada as a liaison between the US Navy and Canadian Navy. His education includes: AA from NBC, BA from Point Loma Nazarene University, MA from Point Loma Nazarene University, MTS from Wesley Theological Seminary, and a PhD from Manchester University, Manchester England.
Mike and Sharon pastored for 40 years. Those assignments included churches in: Ohio, California, Washington DC and Dodge City, Kansas. Mike has been a
seminar speaker at PALCON and General Assembly and on the District Level. Mike has been an Adjunct Professor at Nazarene Theological College and Barclay College. He was the first Pastor in Residence at MidAmerica Nazarene University. He also is a published author: Wesleyan Essentials in a Multicultural Society, Abingdon Press.
Mike has been married to Sharon (Knott) for 46 years and have two children: Meggan Wilson, married to Brandon Wilson and they have 3 children, Emily, Olivia and Isaac; and Pastor Nate Burns, married to Kari (Roland) and they have 2 children, Bryce and Addie. Sharon is a registered nurse, now retired after over 45
years of caring for others. They moved to Oklahoma in 2017.
Barbara began serving as bookkeeper for MCN in 2010. She moved with her family to Mustang in 1972 and has worked in bookkeeping and accounting for over 40 years. As a member of MCN, she has been a greeter for many years and enjoys being active in many MCN activities. She also enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Scott & Rochelle; Hannah and Alllison
Kid’s Day Out Director
Rochelle began serving as Kid’s Day Out Director in 2012. Prior to joining our staff, she taught Spanish at Tuttle Middle School. After graduating from Southern Nazarene University in 2005, Rochelle and her high school sweetheart, Scott, were married and began attending Mustang Church of the Nazarene. Scott is an Engineer with O.G&E. The have two daughters, Hannah and Allison.
