Advent 2025 – Week 1

HOPE ON HOLY GROUND

Scripture:

• Exodus 3:1–12

• Luke 1:5–25

• Psalm 25:1–10

Key Thought:

Hope begins when God breaks the silence. Where God shows up becomes holy ground.

Reflection Questions:

Where have you lowered your expectations of God?

What long prayer do you need to pick up again?

Where might God be turning ordinary ground into holy ground?

Next Step for This Week:

Pause once each day and pray:

“Lord, help me recognize the holy ground beneath my feet.”

Prayer for Good at 4 PM:

Holy God,

We come to this first Sunday of Advent standing in the long shadow of waiting. Like Israel, we know what silence feels like. Like Moses, we know what wilderness feels like. And like Zechariah, we know what hope deferred feels like.

But today, we dare to hope again.

Break through our silence, Lord. Interrupt our routines. Open our eyes to the holy ground beneath our feet.

Where we have lowered our expectations, lift them. Where we have stopped praying, rekindle our cries.

Where we have learned to settle, awaken us with Your presence.

Your Word says, “My hope is in You all day long.” Make that true in us.

As we light the candle of Hope, remind us that You are the God who calls our name from burning bushes, the God who sends angels into ordinary days, the God who whispers, “Your prayer has been heard.” You are the God who still speaks.

Come, Lord Jesus.

Speak again.

Move again.

Make this ordinary space holy ground.

We place our hope in You.

Amen.
